History & The Work
My mini-thesis is about womanhood in the Philippines. In particular, the status and role of women in Philippine history.
My first plate was on the Pre-Spanish and Spanish Colonialism. While women had equality with men during the Pre-Spanish Period, women did not enjoy the same status when the Spaniards came to the Philippines. Women’s role was to stay home, do household chores, and served the men. They were not given the right to education, nor the right to suffrage.
All that changed when the Americans came to the Philippines, and the changes are what my second plate is all about.
I call this plate “The Philippine Liberty”.
